Professor, researcher, and Desentr Project Director Vesna Mandakovic presented preliminary findings from a research project funded by the John Templeton Foundation, which examines entrepreneurship among older adults and migrants in Chile. The study shows that individuals who engage in entrepreneurship perceive lower levels of age discrimination than those working as employees, as entrepreneurial activity provides greater opportunities to leverage accumulated experience, social networks, and knowledge.
Based on a nationwide survey and qualitative interviews, the research also highlights the need to strengthen inclusion policies, improve access to financing, and promote intergenerational mentoring to foster active aging and greater economic participation.
